Twelve Corners of Virginia: The Corners

The six required checkpoints:

  1. Middlesboro, Kentucky.  Get a picture of you in your motorcycle gear in front of the Glacier Girl P-38 at the Middlesboro airport.
  2. False Cape State Park, Virginia.  Get a picture of you in your motorcycle gear with a wild horse in the background (probably too difficult!).  Get a picture of your motorcycle in front of the State Park sign (I haven't actually seen this sign yet).  Get a picture of your motorcycle in front of the Sandbridge Fishing Pier.
  3. Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge, Virginia.  Get a picture of your motorcycle in front of the Park sign.
  4. Harpers Ferry, West Virginia.  Get a picture of your motorcycle in front of the Park sign, or perhaps in the historic town down the hill.
  5. Blue Grass, Virginia.  Get a photo of your motorcycle in front of The Blue Grass Valley Bank.
  6. Paint Bank, Virginia.  Get a photo of the General Store clerk sitting on your motorcycle. This community is on VA 311 in Craig County, between Potts and Peters Mountains.

The remaining six checkpoints may be selected from the following list, which may be expanded later by the ride organizers.

  1. Breaks Interstate Park, Virginia & Kentucky
  2. Cacapon State Park, West Virginia
  3. Fisherman Island National Wildlife Refuge, Virginia

  10. Riverdale, Virginia.  Near the Great Dismal Swamp.

  14. Whitetop, Virginia. This is one of the corners near Mt Rogers (hat tip: Chris Elledge for pointing out that there are corners on the southern boundary!).
